Public Service Media (PSM) and MediaNet have signed an agreement to broadcast the FIFA World Cup to audiences in the Maldives.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at PSM, with senior officials from both organisations in attendance. MediaNet was represented by Residential Sales representative Hussain Samaan, while Executive Director of Commercial and Corporate Mohamed Saeed signed on behalf of PSM.
Under the agreement, all World Cup matches will be made available free of charge on PSM’s designated channels through MediaNet’s network. Viewers will be able to watch matches via MediaNet’s cable service, television platforms and mobile application without requiring an active subscription.
PSM will also produce a range of supporting content, including pre-match shows, analysis programmes and match-related coverage.
Since the 1986 World Cup, the Maldivian government has facilitated public access to the tournament, promoting unity, entertainment and nationwide engagement. This year’s initiative is being carried out with strong government support and aligns with PSM’s public service mandate to provide access to major global events.
